Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02), past Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, today released the following statement regarding Senate passage of the US-India nuclear agreement:

“After months of delays and deliberations, I am pleased the Senate yesterday overwhelmingly approved the US-India nuclear agreement. Passage of this bill is vital to continuing a prosperous relationship with India and moving our non-proliferation efforts forward.

“Majority Leader Bill Frist and Chairman Richard Lugar are to be commended for their commitment to this legislation. They worked tirelessly to ensure this agreement was passed before the Senate adjourned for the year.

I am hopeful the House and Senate can reconcile our differences in a timely manner and send this bill to President Bush.”
